Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Full name
- Password (encrypted)
- Optional profile photo
Usage Data (Local Only)
The following data is stored ONLY on your device:
- Translation history
- Emoji interpretation history
- Reply suggestions history
- SubText analysis history
- User preferences and settings
Important: This data NEVER leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud sync (future feature).
2. How We Use Your Information
Account Data
- Authenticate your access to GenLingo
- Manage your subscription
- Send service-related communications
- Provide customer support
AI Enhancement (Optional)
When you enable AI enhancement, we send your text to Anthropic's Claude API:
- Transmitted: Your message text only (no account info)
- Protected: Personal information automatically removed if PII Protection enabled
- Anonymous: No user identification included
- Secure: Encrypted HTTPS transmission
- Not stored: Anthropic does not log or retain your messages
3. PII Protection System
When enabled, our PII Protection automatically removes personal information before any cloud processing:
- Names are replaced with generic placeholders
- Email addresses are masked
- Phone numbers are removed
- Social media handles are sanitized
- Original values restored in your results
This happens instantly on your device BEFORE any network transmission.
4. Data Storage and Security
What's Stored in the Cloud
- Account credentials (encrypted via Supabase Auth)
- Profile information (name, email, avatar)
- Subscription status
- Notification preferences
What's Stored Locally (Your Device Only)
- All translation history
- All emoji interpretations
- All reply suggestions
- All SubText analyses
- Slang database (549 terms)
- Emoji database with generational context
Security Measures
- All cloud data transmitted via encrypted HTTPS
- Passwords hashed and salted (never stored in plain text)
- Supabase provides enterprise-grade security
- Local data protected by your device's security
5. Third-Party Services
GenLingo uses the following third-party services:
Supabase (Authentication & Database)
Stores account information and manages authentication. See Supabase Privacy Policy.
Anthropic Claude (Optional AI Enhancement)
Processes text when AI enhancement enabled. Messages are not logged or stored. See Anthropic Privacy Policy.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: View your account data anytime in Settings
- Update: Edit your profile information
- Delete: Permanently delete your account and all cloud data
- Export: Download your data (coming soon)
- Control AI: Enable/disable AI enhancement at any time
- Clear History: Delete local history anytime
- Opt-out: Disable history saving entirely
7. Children's Privacy
GenLingo is intended for users 13 years and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.
8. International Data Transfers
Your account data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
9. Changes to Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
